Is swimming or running better for cardio fitness.?

In my personal experience, I found swimming a much better cardio because I could adjust it in many ways to suit me – like using different strokes. Also being one with bad knees, I love to run? But it is much less stressful on the joints. I guess it depends on which you prefer. Swimming also would provide much resistance for other parts of your body. So I’d pick swimming over running.
